You started off good here, but I was dissapointed when you seemed to come to the conclusion that your religion is the "one true religion", (as opposed to all the others, of course). There is no religion, including Hinduism, which has nothing valuable to s y as well as which can not be seriously faulted in some aspects. I read your page on atheism and it is typically rife with error. One small example is that you claim biological evolution has stopped. Where did you get this idea. I would recommend that you read some good science books and do more research. You have also fallen into several 'faulty logic traps' . We should never compromise on the truth, as truth alone triumphs not falsehood. 'Satyamev jaye e nanritam' as the timeless Sanskrit adage goes. I hope that you will continue to help spread the truth through your homepage, but also be ready to humbly acknowledge and openly accept a better reasoned argument based on the Vedas if and when it arises. (Which I'm sure you have already done and will continue to do. I'm convinced that one of the reasons why you set up this discussion forum was so that your knowledge could be cultivated too.) There are a few questions that I would like to ask about your reply. Firstly,could you tell me what you meant by your comments about having doubts about the Arya Samaj movement,and it having run out of intellectual critical steam? I am very interested to know about the current philosophy and activities that the movement is engaged in. Who are the leading lights? What impression if any have we made on the 'non-Aryan'world at large? If you could draw up a list of areas for improvement what would it consist of? Secondly, as you may have noticed I've just used the term 'non-Aryan'to describe non-Arya Samajists. It is used often by us to describe anyone outside the movement. However many of these people (including myself) are Arya Samajists by birth only and pract se very few of the Vedic ideals. I have met some 'non-Aryans',who seem more 'Aryan' then the aforementioned kind of people,due to their kind deeds and words. So don't you think that one step in the right direction for the movement would be the proper acqu sition of the title 'Arya' through a formal examination assessed by a body of venerable Aryas? This could be judged perhaps on the following criteria: a) the daily performance of the five yajnas b)engagement in regular individual or community based philanthropic work alongside striving for material wealth by honest means. c)regular preaching and teaching of the Vedas to others d)mastery and/or diligent study of the Vedas, Upanishad and the Sanskrit,Hindi languages e)renunciation of pride,lust,greed,egoistic tendencies,gluttony and anger i.e a person with pronounced 'Sattvic' tendencies (I am sure that their are other criterion that I've forgotten to mention.) I think that until such a formal status is properly established,as you quite rightly point out our movement will continue to be in disarray. Before we can honestly and openly preach to others, reform must come from within. I was born in an 'Arya Samajist' family,so I thank God that my parents have at least shown me part of the way. But I would be the first to admit that I would have great dif iculty in passing such an examination. So although I earnestly strive I am ashamed to say that I am not an Arya. Is there any hope for people like me who want so badly to better themselves, but are groping in the dark due to a lack of proper guidance? You may say read the Satyarth Prakash or other books by the Swami,but what I think is badly needed for people like me is practical hands-on guidance in conjunction with the intellectual kind. How did you obtain your Vedic knowledge in order to become a true A yan? Thirdly, in response to my comment on the tendency for people nowadays to run to spiritual movements like the Hare Krishnas in search of spiritual mystical solace rather than resorting to liberating intellectual discrimination. You said that this was as a result of the intellect becoming static and that we could expect little else in Kaliyug. Again pardon my insolence,I am sure you have a better grasp of what the Swami said then I have, but didn't he say that time could not be classified. In this respect h levelled alot of his criticism at the Sanatanists for being indolent and corrupt in their religious practices. By conveniently proclaiming that it was Kaliyug they duped(and still do)the gullible into such evils as idolatry on the basis that the formless worship of God was for people in 'Satyug' only. Don't you think that we should be wary of falling into the same kind of fatalistic trap and make every active effort to dispel ignorance? However granted this cannot be done until we are fully fledged Aryas ourselves. (See comments made above.) So less talk about other religions, the semantics and the hair splitting. Let's concentrate on making Indians from the Indian diaspora,who have at l ast a vague notion of their Vedic heritage,more Aryan. Then we can truly and sincerely talk about reforming this world. There is however one thing that bothers me about it and our movement in general.This may well be because of a lack of true understanding,so please enlighten me. Relentless criticism, soul searching leading to the awakening of the soul and the intellect has done much to edify and improve the world in which we are living in. Swami Dayanand and people like you should be lauded for your invaluable service to mankind. However the reaction I often get from non Arya Samajists about our ideals and philosophy is more often than not negative rather than positive. Alongside being branded as 'fundamentalists' and 'bigots', our movement is judged to be too cerebral. Those used to equating Eastern spirituality with irrational but comforting mysticism are turned off by the cold (but correct) reasoning of the Swami in Satyarth Prakash. It's no wonder that these people find solace instead in the Hare Krishna movement and the like which purport to offer a 'vedic'place of rest in a realm beyond the intellect i.e one dictated by the heart. Our philosophy in it's harsh realism smacks too much of the 'cold', 'heartless',even (what they perceive to be)'Godless' world that they are trying to run away from. Now I am not calling for a watering down of any of the tenets of our movement. The Satyarth Prakash should continue to be it's foundation. But I really feel alongside incisive,rational criticism, (both very healthy and necessary to improve this world), our movement should place equal emphasis on the eternal Vedic message of love, compassion and magnanimity that permeates and helps sustain the natural order that God has created. More references to Vedic scripture reflecting this message and how we can practically apply it so that we can lead more wholesome lives i.e through meditational and yogic techniques, doing yajna etc would paint a more accurate picture of what it means to an Aryan and to follow true Vedic principles. We must continue to be ever vigilant and ready to dispel ignorance, but let's not forget that our motivation should always be the love of God and everything that he created. namaste vijai i just wanted to get your opinion on this : the books on hinduism published by the local arya pratinidhi sabha recognise the bhagavad gita as a scripture... isn't this a huge contradiction of the maharishi who condemned the ideas of the avtar... the gita penly claims "surrender to me" etc from the mouth of krishna and one whole chapter is devoted to him revealing his 4-armed 'cosmic' form... i thought swami dayanaand taught that even the finest food mixed with a little poison should be rejected...

This is the strangest web sight I've ever seen. If the Vedas were the One True Religion, then India would stand out as a jewel of nations. It is the one country which has been overwhelmingly influenced by the Vedas. The proof of true religion is its effects on the hearts of men and the eventual spiritual civilization. I'm not sure if you even have gone through all of them to see if their references or logics seem right to you. Vj ~ If ever you could apply logics, you would cease to remain a muslim. You've done this only to persuade people that your religion is the right one. Do you think people can't find any falses and errrors in your religion? Do you know how many religions are currently exist? have a search on internet, they seem to be more than hundred, and besides there are hundreds of on religious ideas as well. Go on, prove all are wrong exept you ! Please do not confuse again, I don't have to prove this because I never said all are lost except me, I only keep the way that I found the best according to my best knowledge. 6-If you really think one can judge about a religion only by finding what one think is contradictions in it's holy book or by finding what one find wrong on it's rules or believers I should say I'm very sorry for you and I can only advise you to read som basic references on the research methods and logics of cognition. 7- All above are your problem, because I as a muslim have never claimed that other people are wrong but you have confidentially claimed that all people who don'e believe on what you believe (as you said billions) are lost. Hey that's a very brave idea isn't it? Good to spend the rest of life with it, hope to enjoy it. Vijay, neat site which you have obviously put a lot of time and effort into. The contents are way above my head, however, being a simple man. I'm content with a cold beer and watching the Tour de France or the World Rally Car championships. Never could figure out why all the violent religious zealots out there in the world don't spend their time doing something fun or relaxing. All their fighting seems to be a big waste of time. As a Muslim I found that you have a very serious misunderstandings about this religion. Some of which are only good materials to laugh about. I can see that you made a same mistake for other religions as well (no matter if I accept them or not). So I can only tell one thing to you, have you passed all the sky? or have you gone under all the seas? have you read all the books? or have you discuss all these with people from the respective religions? If not,you should be cautious, because if it happens that you find you're wrong (even if it would be possible for 1% probability), then you have lost a LOT. I haven't done all above but at least I have grabbed a system of believe that to me is coming from the creator of the world. Just be cauitios, nothing more, world is full with things that we don't know anything about them. Like every thing, even believing in God has a system, religions are these systems, no matter if many errors have been imposed to them by their falt obedience.
