In conclusion
The verses quoted are axcerpts taken from the pages of the holiest sceripture of Hinduism. The Maha Shiva Purana, the most authentic authority on the life of Lord Shiva.
It is also one of the most revered scripture in Hinduism.
I have tried to the best of my ability to render a literal translation of the verses without any insertion of my own. There are so many questions to be answered. Is this the same Lord Shiva who lived on mount Kailas together with his wife Parbati and sons Kartikeya and the Elephant-headed god Ganesh?
is this the same Shiva who is worshipped as the Lord and Creator of the Universe, and who is worshipped by Hindus during the night of Shiva Ratri?
In verse 21, the prostitute made it abundantly clear. She said that I am a prostitute by profession and improper sex-indulgence is my family tradition.
In verse 22, the prostitute said to Shiva, that I am prepared to live with you as your wife fro three days and three nights in exchange for the jewels.
In verse 23, Lord Shiva said, "if what you say is true, then you may have the gem-studded-bangles and live with me as my wife for three nights."
In verse 24, Lord Shiva made the prostitute repeated her vows three times in the presence of the sun and the moon as her witness. Thereafter, Lord Shiva, said come now give me a hug.
In verse 25, the prostitute said to the Lord, "I will indulge in sexual intercourse with you for three days and three nights as your wife as payment for the jewels."
In verse 26, having repeated her vows three times, the prostitute said, the sun and moon are my two witnesses. She then began to touch, hug and caress the Lord.
In verse 27, Lord Shiva gave the gem-studded-bangles to the prostitute in her hand.
In verse 28, Lord Shiva said, "O my beloved, these jewels are dearer to me than life itself, protect them carefully and hide them.
In verse 29, the prostitute said, "so be it." Then she place the jewels in her dancing room.
In verse 30, the prostitute happily slept with the vit-dharmi or whore-monger during the night on a bed well decorated with soft pillows and matress.
These fabulous tales were written during the middle ages in the darkest period of Indian History. These absurdities were handed down to us by our fore-fathers who migrated from India to Guyana and the West Indies.
How sad it is, that the children of those immigrants, though not illiterate as their fore-fathers, still continue to perpetrate the same crime among the innocent and the less informed for the sake of self-benefit.
It is time now, for our people to wake up from their slumber and scrutinize the fallacy of these rediculous stories of the Puranas. It is time to wake up and put an end to this garbage of alledged facts by the tale-bearers, and stop exploiting the innocent people in the name of God and religion. The Shiva of the Puranas has nothing to do with Shiva of the Vedas
